Independance
An orphaned branch floats down a ruddy stream
An orphaned branch floats down a ruddy stream
once part of a hierarchy of towering trees nurished by the water below
A kingdom of growth green and lush
stands ruling over every bird and squirrel
standing over every berry and nut
As I lay here motionless
I feel the cold water seep into every chip and crack
The sun peaks out from behind the clouds and warms my face
I, branch am now driftwood
